about our ADHD/ADD Success Program and Parent Support
At Success4School we want your child to be successful at every stage of his
school journey. That's why we offer programs which help ALL
children- but we specifically have services we offer just for those
children who learn differently like who may have or have already
been identified with learning disabilities or ADHD/ADD. Students
with learning disabilities, who learn differently (not identified)
or have ADD/ADHD need a cognitive approach which targets instruction
to their individual needs in a way which teaches them HOW to
LEARN.
For
these children, being organized, taking notes, developing good study
habits, orienting themselves to text when they read, copying from
the board, and readying themselves to attack word problems- does not
come easy, and most times for almost any child, it does not come
naturally. We believe these kids are some of the brightest on the
planet- they are often creative, out of the box thinkers, with
affinities for amazing things...they just need to learn how they
learn so they can use strategies to achieve success. Success breeds
confidence when children see the results of their efforts.
We
believe that all children—even those with severe ADD/ADHD—can
learn to develop new methods
of control, awareness, and thought, and that they can become successful
students in their
classrooms and ultimately in life. We feel the critical issue
with students who struggle academically with ADD/ADHD is that they
are not failures in school, they just have not developed efficient
thinking processes. More to the point, most people do not realize
that to pay attention is a learned skill- thousands of children
every year are diagnosed with ADD or ADHD and truly have no idea of
what it feels like or looks like to pay attention. Attention is
learned like any other school skill. Your child can learn it. A
child who is not paying attention, is not paying attention- we don't
consider the can't-- we identify the behavior and teach how to
correct it. The child learns to reflect, to halt, to stop and think-
to recognize this behavior of mentally "going away" and
our results in improving this are astounding!
Our
approach to students with ADD/ADHD [&
other learning difficulties] is the same as with our other students,
however, we combine a few other techniques into our Formula4Success...

EVALUATE:
Meet
with the child and family to determine the child's learning
style and their mode of inattention (mental energy, processing,
or production), Assess
the student using a diagnostic and content referenced assessment
which details skills the child is missing, strengths, as well as
goals specific to the standard course of study.

EDUCATE:
Build
a blueprint
for their learning that involves consistent goals
for parents, child, classroom teacher, and tutor. This plan is
effective because it is a consistent foundation for
success. Demystify
the disability/disorder
for the child so they can begin to be
made accountable for learning in positive ways, developing
strategies which can help them compensate, while appreciating
what make them different, makes them great! We have a continuous
improvement emphasis in our approach to teaching the art of
learning- and paying attention is our major skill. We utilize
cognitive approaches- so your child can train their brain, be
more aware of his behavior and make changes that come from
within! (ask us about our process: play, measure, learn,
succeed).

FACILITATE:
We meet with school personnel on your behalf, if requested, to
ensure the strategies taught are being carried over into the
classroom. This is essential to long term results. We execute
the blueprint for learning plan with consistent
follow-up. We specialize with children
of special needs- our teachers have training to work in special
education using multi-sensory approaches. We understand your
child's individual needs- you're not alone in this journey and
neither is she.

VALIDATE: We offer one to one tutoring, ADHD/ADD or LD
success groups, and social skills groups to ensure we meet all
the needs of the children that come through our door. Come and
ask to speak to the owner about how we can help you understand
your child's needs,, how our program for ADD/ADHD children
achieves amazing results. We aim to make you feel like
your child is a part of our family too. Our program is hands-on,
measurable, emphasizes independence and reflection and is a
different experience than your child has ever had before. We
believe two key things, (a) with the proper support and
teaching/coaching-attention/focus is learned, (b) your child
can learn it.
